I'm not sure if it's network latency but I think a lot of it has to do with general page size. There are a ton of images and the css file is rather large. Before I decided to comment, I ran one of the short "Ask for advice" threads through http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/ and with only 2-3 comments the page was already 160k which is huge. Minti should be much quicker and more lean, especially with the nifty "web 2.0" look and functionality it has going on. Nice site and functionality overall.
